What can I expect out of this qualification?
Diploma in Fine Arts graduates will demonstrate attributes of Creativity - Toi, Virtuosity - Mohio, Understanding - Matauranga and Connectedness - Whanaungatanga. They should: Display an awareness of a variety of different world views acknowledging their contribution to the cultural identity of Aotearoa New Zealand (Matauranga). Demonstrate a critical awareness of key aspects of art in a global context in relation to their practice. (Matauranga). Demonstrate understanding of the relationship between creative work and audiences. (Whanaungatanga). Be intellectually curious and adaptable, willing to embrace new ideas and accommodate risk and uncertainty (Toi). Apply a range of processes to generate ideas, proposals, and creative works (Toi). Critically reflect on and evaluate their own work and the work of other practitioners and scholars (Matauranga). Demonstrate competencies in manipulation of materials, media, processes and technologies. (Mohio). Utilise analytical, selective and creative processes in order to transform ideas into material outcomes (Mohio). Demonstrate effective visual, material, oral and written communication skills (Whanaungatanga). Source and use a range of resources and materials that support the development of creative work. (Matauranga).
