Entry requirements

Academic admission
To be admitted to this micro-credential, all applicants must be at least 18 years of age on the date of the micro-credentials commencement for the semester in which they wish to enrol and meet the following requirements:

A recognised degree within the Information Computing Technology discipline;
Or
The ability to demonstrate competencies equivalent to a graduate from the above qualification.

Special and Discretionary admission
Special and Discretionary admission options are also available as outlined in Section 2.9 of Te Kawa Maiorooro | Educational Regulatory Framework
In assessing whether to grant special or discretionary admission, the primary focus will be on the applicant's ability to demonstrate a likelihood of succeeding in the micro-credential.

All decisions will be made at the discretion of a Programme Committee.
Language requirements
All applicants (international and domestic) for whom English, te reo Māori, or New Zealand sign language is not a first language will need to provide evidence that they have the necessary English language proficiency required for the micro-credential.

International applicants are required to demonstrate capability in English as evidenced by an IELTS General or Academic score of 6.0 with no individual band lower than 5.5 from a single test taken in the preceding two years or an equivalent described in NZQA Rules.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The digital technology sector in New Zealand continues to have a growing demand in the mobile application development space. This micro-credential aims to equip ākonga with comprehensive skills for developing mobile applications that meet organisational requirements. Through this micro-credential, ākonga will apply project management techniques specific to mobile application implementation, utilise user interface design principles for developing and testing intuitive applications, and employ data handling and networking skills critical for robust application development and testing. This is important to meet the demand in the labour market in New Zealand. Upon completion, ākonga will be adept at integrating project management, UI design, and technical skills to create mobile applications that effectively fulfil organisational objectives.
