Entry requirements

Prospective learners must
- be employed or have access to a port operations environment.
- be 16 years or older. 
- Be physically fit to undertake learning and assessment required by each unit component
- Have support from an employer to complete the micro-credential and its associated training and assessment in the workplace.

About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This micro-credential is designed to provide learners with the essential skills required for effective ship crane operations. Learners will gain competencies around slinging regular loads, operating cargo lifting equipment, and using radio communication devices to aid lifting tasks. The successful acquisition of these skills will lead to improved operational efficiency, enhanced safety practices, and a more capable workforce within the port and stevedoring sector.

Learners who successfully complete this micro-credential will be able to undertake various operational roles supporting lifting operations in a port and stevedoring environment. Furthermore, this micro-credential offers a pathway towards the New Zealand Certificate in Port Operations (Level 3) programme (REF:2814).
