Entry requirements

Ākonga must be full or part-time employees, self-employed contractors or volunteers working in a Te Mahi Ako-approved workplace setting (signed workplace relationship agreement)*.

Non-domestic ākonga can be enrolled onto this micro-credential if they are working in a Te Mahi Ako approved workplace and have a current visa that allows them to work.

* If a self-employed contractor operates independently of an established workplace they need to provide evidence of ongoing training and of how they will access the resources necessary to complete the assessments necessary to complete the qualification.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide a formal credential that introduces ākonga to hui tikanga, pūrākau, te whānau marama, and te ao Māori values to further their foundational understanding of tikanga, tikanga practices, concepts and mātauranga Māori guided by a te ao Māori worldview.
This micro-credential is targeted at people who are already employed or volunteer in a workplace that wish to broaden their knowledge and understanding of mātauranga Māori and build on their bicultural capability.
This micro-credential is intended to complement and enhance workplace tikanga, knowledge and skills in accordance with mātauranga Māori
On completion graduates will be able to apply knowledge fundamentals to tikanga practices in their workplaces and in the widder community, whānau, hapū and iwi.
