About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of the micro credential is to:
Provide an introduction to the marine, marina, composite, and characteristics of aluminium alloy relevant to boatbuilding industries and associated workplaces.
The programme is intended to allow students to decide if they wish to commit to a full apprenticeship in the marine or composites sectors.
* Expose tauira/ learners to the alloy boat building industry and offer other pathways in the marine industry identified by the course content.
* Provide an opportunity for this learning to occur within an alloy boat building
setting.
* Provide an opportunity for tauira/ learners to see current apprentices in work at Extreme Boats and other boat builders within their local area.
* Expose tauira/ learnerss to the many components of alloy boat building.
* Act as a potential feeder to an apprenticeship programme or encourage further upskilling / study in a specific boat building/ marine field.
* Include concepts of Mātauranga Māori, tikanga, culture, and heritage specific to Ngati Awa and other Iwi.

Minimum requirements
Te Puna Ora o Mataatua and NgTI Awa Social and Health will refer potential learners for this micro credential who will be supported through TRONA pastoral care services as listed above in section 3.
