Entry requirements

The minimum academic entry criteria is an undergraduate degree or degree-equivalent practical, professional or scholarly experience.

Indicative Selection Process
Applicants may be asked to provide:
* A personal written statement
* A structured resume or CV
* Evidence of academic records and relevant professional skills

International students and students from non-English speaking backgrounds
International students whose first language is not English must also demonstrate English language skills equivalent to an IELTS overall band score (Academic) of 6.0, with no band score less than 5.5, or equivalent, from one test taken in the preceding two years.

Selection Criteria
In the case that there are more applicants than places available, candidates will be given preference based on the below priorities:
1. Strength of the personal written statement, structured resume or CV combined with the evidence of academic records and relevant professional skills.
2. Workplace or service experience, employing relevant skills to conflict resolution.
3. Interviews may be held where further information is required.

About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The Graduate Diploma in Conflict Resolution (GDCR) provides conflict resolution consultancy firms, as well as private sector companies, government ministries and non-for-profit organisations with capable and competent practitioners of conflict resolution who are committed Te Tiriti o Waitangi partners and informed by evidenced-based New Zealand practices with attention to relevant tikanga Māori. Graduates will be able to analyse conflict in a variety of contexts; design and carry out effective intervention processes; and reflect on their practice. Graduates will conduct themselves ethically and sustainably and advocate collaborative, integrative, culturally appropriate tikanga Māori best practice principles in law and lore in conflict management and resolution. This programme fills gaps currently existing in Aotearoa-NZ by embedding internationally accepted professional standards for and broadening the scope of conflict resolution practice.
