Graduates of MNSc(Pre-reg) will be culturally responsive work-ready nurses competent and capable of working interprofessionally to meet the health care needs of Maori, Pacific, rural and remote health consumers, whanau and communities in the bicultural context of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Minimum requirements
Entry into the Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) programme is via a recognised bachelor's degree with a minimum B grade (65%) in the third year of their qualifying degree; which is considered relevant to health science or appropriate health or allied professional qualification Wintec currently offers opportunities for individuals to undertake a number of degrees that may qualify as entry points. Candidates with relevant or equivalent qualifications from other institutions may also apply to gain entry. Candidates who have not previously studied science or health science will have the opportunity to complete an online science preparation prior to commencement of the Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) programme. Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test System (IELTS) Academic band score of 7.0 with no individual band score less than 7.0 or equivalent. The English proficiency requirements are in response to stakeholder consultation which request students undertake Clinical Practicum from Semester 1. Clinical Practicum requires students to communicate effectively in practice including responding in rapidly changing situations and emergencies. Candidates must complete their application for selection at least two months prior to the commencement of the programme. Applications received after this point will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Candidates may be required to attend an individual interview as part of the selection process.
