About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the youth work sector with youth workers who have specialised skills and knowledge and attitudes to support taiohi, and lead and support youth workers.
This qualification is intended for people who want to specialise in youth work practice.
Graduates will be able to work autonomously and contribute to positive youth development outcomes in diverse and complex contexts.
Graduates will uphold positive youth development approaches and practice that are informed by Te Tiriti o Waitangi, The Codes of Ethics for Youth Work, Mana Taiohi, current positive youth development approaches, frameworks and legislative requirements.

NCEA level 3 or New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 3) or equivalent qualification/work experience AND evidence of suitability based on interview, health screening, safety check and referee reports International: IELTS 6.00 (no band lower than 5.5), or equivalent
