The Open Polytechnic's Bachelor of Library and Information Studies prepares students to work in a wide range of specialist roles within the rapidly transforming library, archives, records and information management sectors, and beyond. They will be confident, culturally competent, proactive and collaborative practitioners who enjoy working with people in a dynamic, future-focused discipline that makes a significant contribution to the quality of the lives of New Zealanders, and to the cultural, social, research and economic outcomes of the whole country.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Applicants must be at least 17 years old at the start of the programme and have either: New Zealand University entrance; passes in relevant Level 4 New Zealand Certificate / Diploma qualifications considered appropriate by the programme leader; or an overseas qualification assessed to be equivalent to these by the programme leader. Applicants who have attained the age of 20 years and do not hold the minimum entry requirements will be eligible to be enrolled where their previous educational, or life experience indicates that they have a reasonable likelihood of success. If English is not the applicant s first language, candidates will need an IELTS (Academic) score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5, or equivalent.
