Key Information for Students
Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Entry is open to applicants aged 17 years and older. Entry is by practical audition and interview. Acceptance of the academic background of the applicant as provided in appropriate transcripts. International students must also have an IELTS Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5 (or equivalent). Where the number of applicants for places in the programme exceed the number of places available priority is given to learners who have performed well in auditions, who we believe to have a good chance of success in the programme, or who are believed likely to benefit the most from the programme. Applicants are required to undertake an individual audition with one or more of the tutors from ATC's School of Music as part of the application process where they will be required to play an instrument or sing a song. The audition will also involve a discussion about the programme and the applicants level of experience and ability in various areas. This is to ensure that they can demonstrate the ability to achieve at diploma level and have sufficient musical understanding and ability. This is not just in the technical aspects of playing an instrument or use of their voice but also in their ability to perform, and therefore no specific musical grade or voice training is required for entry. Although applicants will be essentially enrolled as soloists in terms of achieving the GPO's of the qualification, some ensemble/group involvement is required to round out their skills and ensure they have the ability to work with and perform in a group if required.
