What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification provides the commercial road transport industry with people who have the knowledge and skills required to safely and competently operate heavy rigid vehicles or heavy combination vehicles.
The qualification is designed for new or current heavy vehicle drivers who wish to gain skills and knowledge beyond those required to be a licence holder.
Graduates will be able to work under limited supervision.
This qualification does not permit the holder to drive a motor vehicle on New Zealand roads without a current relevant driver licence issued by the New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA).

Minimum requirements
Academic requirements: Open entry. Additional requirements: Applicants must have held a current class 1 driver licence for a minimum of six months. Applicants will be required to: - complete a criminal history declaration - provide a current medical certificate as required by NZTA - attend an interview. English Language Requirements: IELTS 5.0 Academic (no lower than 5.0 in any subtest).
