What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification is for ākonga/learners who are seeking to develop foundational skills and conceptual knowledge in a range of creative contexts.
Graduates of this qualifications will have developed a limited range of creative capabilities to allow them to contribute to community or commercial projects in preparation for further study.
Graduates will be able to operate across a range of creative contexts under broad guidance.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Prospective students must be 16 years or older, (TLC can cater for under 16 year olds but require MOE approval). It is preferred that students participating in the distance [online] delivery have access to a device capable of watching videos (online or DVD), and take and upload photographs, access Chrome browser. If a student does not have access to any of these devices we will deliver the programme in a non-digital manner. International: Prospective students must have a valid student visa. The programme is taught in English. Prospective international students, who choose to study on campus, must have achieved IELTS 5.5 Academic (no lower than 5.0 in any subtest), or equivalent; if English is not their first language. During the admissions process prospective students are supplied with an enrolment pack containing a current prospectus and general information about The Learning Connexion and programmes offered. For additional and/or more detailed information, links are given to the TLC web site https://www.tlc.ac.nz/enrolment/term-dates-and-fees/additional-costs/ which contains information about programmes, delivery options, costs, classes, class related costs, staff, maps etc. Course material costs vary according to a student's chosen field, the normal range is between $10-$50/week. Detailed information is published in the TLC prospectus. A starter pack of materials valued at $100 is supplied to students two weeks before their start date. Resource books in printed or digital format (for distance delivery) are included in the programme costs. Prospective students participate in an informal conversation or interview, as appropriate, to discuss the student's goals and plans and to answer any questions they may have. This discussion enables TLC to understand if the student has a reasonable expectation of meeting the qualification requirements and completing the programme. Enrolment is subject to the approval of the Academic Board.
