This qualification is designed for ākonga/learners who are seeking to develop broad technical skills and conceptual knowledge in arts, craft or design creative practice.
A range of industries will benefit from graduates who possess arts, craft or design creative capabilities.
Graduates will be able to operate independently within arts, craft and/or design creative and commercial environments.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Academic Requirements Applicants under 20 years old - Completed a Level 3 qualification in a related field or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills. Applicants 20 years or over - For applicants 20 years or over, there are no minimum academic requirements. However, applicants will need to provide their curriculum vitae detailing any relevant work experience and academic achievements. The Programme Coordinator will use this information to assess whether the applicant is likely to successfully complete the NZ Diploma in Arts and Design (Level 5). International Students: This Programme is open to international students English Language Requirements: To gain entry onto programmes leading to this qualification, international students must meet the English Proficiency Outcomes for International Students for whom English is not their First Language as set out in Appendix 2 of the NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2013 (Version 2). For a Level 5 Diploma IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 or equivalent as shown in Appendix 2 of the NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2013 (Version 2). These can be accessed at: www.nzqa.govt.nz. Special Entry: In exceptional circumstances, an applicant under the age of 20 years who does not meet the academic entry requirements may be granted entry to the NZ Diploma in Arts and Design (Level 5) where they supply evidence to satisfy the Programme Coordinator of their ability to succeed on the NZ Diploma in Arts and Design (Level 5) programme. Selection Process or Other Requirements: Applicants may be interviewed to provide programme advice for decision making.
