Entry requirements
It is strongly recommended that trainees complete the New Zealand Certificate in Equine Skills [Ref: 2375] prior to entering this qualification.
Demonstration of competency must comply with the policy and procedures in the NZRDA Resource Manual - Policies, Procedures and Standards for Groups, and NZRDA Health and Safety Manual (including the Code of Safe Practice).
About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the community with individuals who have the skills and knowledge to assist the delivery of therapeutic riding programmes designed to complement conventional therapies and special needs education for individual riders with disabilities.
Graduates will benefit by having recognition of their therapeutic coaching skills to assist to deliver safe and effective programmes in local communities throughout New Zealand.
The community will benefit by having skilled assistant coaches who can offer a variety of services to their riders such as education for riders with special needs, sport and recreation, and therapy and rehabilitation.
