About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the scaffolding sector with people who have the skills, knowledge and experience to effectively lead, plan, design, erect, dismantle and inspect complex scaffolding at an advanced level.
Graduates will be able to work in an autonomous capacity and use the Worksafe Good Practice Guidelines relevant to the full range of techniques for undertaking advanced scaffolding activities to ensure all tasks are completed safely and to industry standards.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
To be eligible for entry, trainees must be in employment and engaging with work related to the scope of the programme. The employer and trainee, in conjunction with Vertical Horizonz New Zealand, must complete a training agreement. Vertical Horizonz may enrol trainees working in New Zealand under work visas into this programme without being a signatory to The Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021, until 31 December 2023 Programme Details (run on 24/05/22) Page 1 of 3 Pre-requisites People who want to start this programme must meet these pre-requisites to meet regulatory body and legislative requirements: - A current workplace first aid certificate - New Zealand Certificate in Scaffolding (Trade) (Level 4) [Ref:3710] and/or the following scaffolding competence endorsements as specified in the Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995: - Advanced Certificate: C. Barrow Clamp F. Catch net G. Hoist (load not exceeding 250 kilograms) J. Mast climbers L. Scaffolding associated with perimeter safety screens or shutters O. Tube and coupler scaffolding Pre-requisite to the award of this qualification The New Zealand Certificate in Scaffolding (Proprietary Suspended) (Level 3) [Ref:3709], or the attainment of the scaffolding competence endorsements listed below are pre-requisites for awards: - Suspended Certificate A. Bosun's chair - handheld or mechanical B. Swinging stage - handheld or mechanical If people do not hold this certificate prior to entry into the qualification, VHNZ will ensure that they have achieved the Proprietary Suspended Level 3 [Ref: 3709] before the Scaffolding Level 5 is awarded.
