What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the forest industry with individuals who have the skills and knowledge required to be employed in a production role in a forestry operation.
Graduates will be able to work under limited supervision to meet quality requirements of a job prescription.
The qualification includes six strands which represent distinct activities within forestry operations.

Minimum requirements
To gain admission to Turanga Ararau requires applicants to be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents. To gain entry to the programme learners will need to need to be 16 years or older, have literacy and numeracy skills at step 3 or above on the assessment tool, preferably a level 2 qualification in the industry or equivalent experience, and a demonstrated commitment to work in the industry. In respect of the hazardous nature of forestry operations students admitted to this programme will also need to be physically fit, and be drug free.
