About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the solid wood manufacturing industry with people who have introductory skills and knowledge relevant to work in entry-level roles under close supervision within this industry. Each strand represents a process undertaken in solid wood manufacturing.

Graduates will be able to work safely in entry-level operational roles in one of these processes.

Graduates of the Finger Jointing strand will also be able to create quality products in a finger jointing operation.

Graduates of the Laminating strand will also be able to carry out practical tasks in a laminating operation.

Graduates of the Pole, Post and Pile strand will also be able to carry out practical tasks specific to pole, post and pile manufacturing.

Graduates of the Sawmilling strand will also be able to carry out practical tasks in a sawmilling operation.

Graduates of the Timber Drying and Treatment strand will also be able to carry out practical tasks in a timber drying and treatment operation.

Graduates of the Timber Grading strand will also be able to carry out practical tasks in a timber grading operation.

Graduates of the Timber Machining strand will also be able to carry out practical tasks in a timber machining operation.

Graduates of the Wood Pallet Manufacturing strand will also be able to carry out practical tasks in a wood manufacturing operation.
