What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification is intended for learners of English as an additional language who wish to develop their English language proficiency to pursue academic study requiring a high level of English language competency.
Graduates will have the language skills required to communicate independently and effectively in a wide range of academic situations with fluency and flexibility.
This qualification allows educational institutions and professional bodies to recognise the level at which the graduate can use English for academic purposes.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Entry to the NSLS Certificate in English Language (Level 3) programme is open to domestic and international students who meet the following entry criteria They must -be a minimum of 15 years of age prior to the commencement of the programme possess the appropriate student visa and evidence of medical and travel insurance produce evidence of proficiency in English equivalent to a Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) high B1 level. This may be demonstrated via the NSLS placement test, a recognised English language testing system such as IELTS (5) or achievement in the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 3) NSLS will use their own placement test and a one on one interview to assess and determine a student s level. The NSLS Offer of Place letter will state that their place is conditional subject to them taking a placement test and interview prior to the commencement of the course to ascertain the most current level of English ability. The NSLS placement test is included as an appendix.
