Purpose of award

These scholarships provide financial assistance, mentoring and possible linkages into the industry.

Scholarships will be offered for pre-trade, diploma and degree education in the electricity supply and electrical sectors.

Selection criteria

• Candidates must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents
• Candidates must be residents of the Eastern Bay of Plenty
• Candidates must be 16 years of age or over
• Candidates must provide evidence of acceptance into an approved progamme.

Students must inform EBET if they have any other scholarships at the time of completing the application form and at any stage thereafter.

How and when do students learn of the decision?

Scholarship funding is paid in two instalments. The first 50% is paid after EBET has received a signed acceptance form, verification of enrolment, an invoice from the education provider for course fees and verification of bank account details.
* The second instalment of 50% is paid at the end of the tertiary year when EBET has received evidence of successful completion of the course.
* All payments are made by direct credit to the scholarship recipient's nominated bank account

Decision makers

Applicants will be interviewed by an industry panel including a representative of the Eastern Bay Energy Trust's education committee. The education committee will make a recommendation to the full Trust and scholarships will be awarded by resolution of the full Trust.

History or background of award

The Eastern Bay Energy Trust launced its scholarship programme in 2003 and since then has awarded 72 scholarships for pre-trade, diploma and degree study in energy related fields.
